Grants
If your Letchworth Garden City club or organisation needs financial assistance for a project or initiative, the Heritage Foundation might be able to help. Alternatively, you may be a Letchworth Garden City resident looking for some financial support towards an individual goal.
Community grants are part of the Heritage Foundation’s annual £2m+ programme of charitable distributions. They aim to encourage and support Letchworth Garden City clubs, organisations and individuals in their work with the community. Provided your project benefits people in Letchworth Garden City and meets one of the Heritage Foundation’s six charitable objects, it may qualify for a grant of up to 50% of the total costs.
Since 1995, the Heritage Foundation has provided Community Grants totalling £6.1 million. In 2008-09 alone, grants totalling £1 million were distributed including Architectural Heritage Grants of £385,000 to residents making approved changes to the external appearance of their Garden City homes.
Previously, the Heritage Foundation provided grants of £569,000 (2007-08) and £635,000 (2006-07). At that time over 60% of grants awarded were in the catergory of the Heritage Foundation Recreation and Leisure Object, a further 20% were awarded under the Education and Learning Object.
