Volunteering fun at festival
Last weekend, registered charity, the League of Friends and members of the Heritage Foundation took part in Letchworth Arts Centre's WW2 festival, inviting visitors to play the classic family game of ‘Beetle Drive’ on Broadway Gardens, raising awareness for the Ernest Gardiner Day Hospital.
People of all ages were greeted by Chris Taylor (League of Friends Chairman) and Alan Howard (Heritage Foundation PR & Marketing Director) in typical wartime dress supported by the volunteer team.
Participants competed to be the first to draw their ‘Beetle’ after rolling a number on a die for each body part. Prizes such as £50 of Broadway Cinema vouchers and other novelty gifts were awarded in a draw at the end of Saturday and Sunday.
