‘Streetwise’ Countess

The Countess of Verulam certainly showed that she was ‘streetwise’ when she visited the world’s first Garden City last Wednesday. (July 28)

Lady Verulam, who is the Lord Lieutenant for Hertfordshire, was given a tour of Letchworth Garden City’s new Town Centre Street Scene improvement works, carried out by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation.

As part of her visit to Hitchin and Letchworth Garden City, hosted by North Herts District Council, she requested to view the completed works.

School’s early success…

A school in the world’s first Garden City that recently received the Hertfordshire Quality Standards Award for its Early Years Unit, has good cause to celebrate.

Stuart Kenny, Director General of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, officially opened the Early Years Unit at Stonehill School, last Friday, in Western Way, on the Grange Estate.

The Unit – which was set-up in January 2009 - provides both excellent playground and indoor facilities.
